_What Manner of Love is This?!

What manner of love is this,
for Christ to die for a wretch like me?

Undeserving, ill-deserving, hell-deserving,
lived in selfish vanity!

And yet Thy Word proclaims such a treasure
crushed on a Cross atop Calvary

to pay for my sins, for which I must suffer
the wrath of God, in Hell for eternity!

What manner of love is this,
for Christ to die for a wretch like me?

A sin-sick soul yet Christ forgiven
and when I die, with Him I’ll be eternally!
