_Has Not God Spoken?

Has not God spoken?
I ask, has not God spoken?

You say yes, but why is your voice broken?

You turn page after page, but yet it’s not workin’.

When you take verses that offend, you just say that God’s jokin’.

What arrogance, what sin, to basically say that the Lord of glory can not make known His own story!

We make up words and thoughts in our own fancies. To tickle ears and appetites of our old nature.
—our nature, that wants to satisfy our lusts,
things that pull us and want to justify when we cuss
—the Savior though in ways not verbally clear,
not using bad words but clearly absent of godly fear.

We look to Him as some utilitarian God,
a cosmic butler, to serve us when we want a Dodge?

What sin is this, to play fast and lose with Holy Writ!

Has not God spoken?
I ask has not God spoken?

Then why do you act like it?
Why is it when you read the Bible you throw it out when it doesn’t fit

with your traditions? With your conceptions of God.
When you don’t like what is said you just brush it off and say “Nah, that’s not relevant. That’s not for us”?

See, the Bible is made of words, of letters and words,
of sentences and paragraphs, but they are divinely inspired words!

Theopneustos!
That’s what Paul called it,
the words of God written by inspired persons!

It is written emphatically,
in 2 Timothy 3:16, Paul said that Scripture is breathed out by God Himself, the one true Diety.

It’s words from His mouth, breathed from His lungs, expressed thoughts for all that’s in His house.

For teaching, reproof and correction,
for training in righteousness for all those in His unconditional election.

If all this is true why do you act like that it means something else for you?

You don’t let Scripture say what it means,
instead you twist it to make it suit your selfish needs?

See, fundamentally, your problem is that you can’t see the true center of Christianity.

It’s not you, but it’s the God of Scripture that died for sinners like you!

Don’t twist the Bible because in truth you are worshipping an Idol.
That idol is yourself, you operate in such a way that God exists for you that He’s there to grant you wealth.

But that’s not true, the center of all being is God Himself,
the thrice holy God who expressed His sovereign grace in Ephesians chapter 2!

So I ask you,

Has not God spoken?
I ask, has not God spoken?

Then why is it when you read passages like Romans chapter 3, you deny that we are indeed fallen??

That we are dead in trespasses and sins,
lost in the world spitting on the face of Christ the King of kings.

Self-righteous arrogance,
we deny authority of clear and emphatic words that we are sons of disobedience,

slaves to sin, dead in our trespasses!
That was our condition, since Adam’s fall each and every one of us are depraved, utterly hopeless cases!

But we don’t like that.

When we hear words like that
We tell ourselves, “Hey I’m not that bad!”

“I’m a good person,
I don’t kill, I’m not even like those who make a living out of extortion!”

Surprising isn’t it?
We pay lip service to the Bible and yet when we read it we just brush it off and say: “Hey that’s not it.”

“God is love! He’s forgiving! He hates sin but he loves sinners right?”
That’s a clear example of twisting words in the Bible to make it feel right

to you, because it exposes and convicts the sin that is in you!

God is holy. But not just “holy”, but “holy, holy, holy!”

That’s what the Bible describes of Him.
First the declaration, then the repetition, then the exultation!

It’s the most superlative attribute of the God we thought was just love.
But that’s not it, His person transcends far more and beyond above!

Through His holiness, we realize that His love, His mercy—all flows through from this.

His holy love, His holy mercy, and His holy righteousness!

If that is true, if this is what the Bible truly testifies about the death that is in you,
and in contrast, the Holy God of Jacob and Isaac
All the Bible testifies as in Romans Chapter 1, 3 and 2…

I ask again,

Has not God spoken?

I ask again, has not God spoken?

Then why is it in light of this we still say that God must just be jokin’?

But no, salvation is from God.
From Him alone, there’s nothing we can do at all to deserve His love.

In all our wickedness,
our willful rebellion against the God of infinite holiness.

How is this, in light of all this,
That still we look and scream at God that we deserve not His justice?

But then I say,

Has not God spoken?

I ask, has not God spoken?

Then if that’s true, in His Word, then we are truly fallen!
Dead in sin!
Undeserving of Christ!
All we ever earned is eternal death in Hell, apart from God in eternal night!

But yes,

God has spoken,

I say, yes,

God has spoken!

And the glory in it is that God has indeed spoken
about not just His justice,
about not just His righteousness and holiness,
but also about His true grace and mercy bought for those consumed by such utter sinfulness!

See, for grace to be grace, it must be free,
the beauty of the Gospel is that He took someone like me, and gave me eternity!

That’s the Gospel, that’s the good news,
that Christ exists not to make life better for you,
but instead Christ redeemed His elect
to glorify the Father is the primary effect

of His work, we are merely partakers
of the grace of God purchased by Christ
taking the infinite sinfulness of our sins,
taking the infinite punishment of the Father,
and made us, truly fully, truly new in Him!

I ask again,

has not God spoken?

I ask, has not God spoken?

If you see and understand these things with eyes and ears open,
then fall flat on your face and worship the Holy God, the eternal King of glory proclaiming His wondrous promises in Christ, never ever broken!
