_Personal Churchism

I’m currently reading John MacArthur’s Truth War and it is my personal observation that what we see today in the radical changes that is happening to modern Christendom, the subjugation of Christian precepts to pragmatism, of eternal perspectives for the temporal, is all due to what I call “personal churchism”, where in response to the post-modern culture, having brought out from dry communitarian Christianity, every truth claim now must be subjected, bent, twisted, contextualized, repackaged, and whatever you want to do, to fit that personal flavor that the post-modern man so desires.

From there when expanded to a group of people it turns into socialism, a social gospel, wherein it must be a gospel that can fit any and all types of persons. One of the goals of which is to better human life and temporal happiness. In essence what Christianity has turned into, and is being turned into by such church leaders is but a state of idolatrous humanistic moralism in the guise of being true Christian religion.

This in turn creates a society, a sub-christian culture composed of people who do not have a genuine love for the truth of the God, neither do they seek it or desire it, they will embrace a lie (2 Thessalonians 2:10-11).

But oh, may it never be with us. May we continue to fight for and uphold the truth of the Word of God and His Gospel! Though we are weak and feeble let us cast ourselves to Him who is infinitely more powerful, to Him who is absolutely Sovereign and trust that as we herald His truth, His Word will stand true and tall as all else fade as dust!
